Statistics: Russia’s 2021 grain harvest falls 9% to 121.4 mln tns

MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s grain harvest contracted by 9% on the year to 121.4 million tonnes in weight after processing in 2021, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement late on Wednesday quoting updated data.

The wheat harvest decreased by 11.5% to 76 million tonnes, and the harvest of barley shrank by 14% to 18 million tonnes, of corn rose by 9.8% to 15.2 million tonnes, and of rye went down 27.5% to 1.7 million tonnes.

The harvest of oat decreased by 8.6% to 3.8 million tonnes, of rice by 5.8% to 1.076 million tonnes, and of panicum by 7.1% to 368,000 tonnes, but the harvest of buckwheat gained 2.9% to 918,000 tonnes.

The output of sunflower seeds jumped by 17.6%, of sugar beetroot by 21.6%, and of flax fiber by 33.9%, but the gross harvest of potatoes went down by 6.7% and the combined harvest of vegetables decreased by 2.8%.
